KSU Fashion Industry students Stefaniia Dushkevich and Augustė Šerėnaitė share their experiences, insights, and advice for prospective students.
At Kazimieras Simonavičius University (KSU), fashion isn’t just studied – it’s lived. From the moment you meet Stefaniia and Augustė, it’s clear: these young women don’t just follow trends, they embody them. Confident, expressive, and passionate, both are carving unique paths in the ever-evolving world of fashion.
Stefaniia Dushkevich – Fashion with a Twist of Journalism
A second-year Fashion Industry student, Stefaniia Dushkevich admits that if she were choosing again, she might be torn between fashion and journalism.
“While studying Fashion Industry at KSU, I discovered journalism – it’s become a huge source of inspiration for me. Journalism plays a significant role in the fashion world. But who knows – maybe one day I’ll outgrow it. I’m open to change and see it as a sign of personal growth.”
Studying at KSU has helped Stefaniia get to know herself better.
“I realised I’m very responsible – I never miss a deadline. But in group projects, that sometimes meant taking on too much. I’ve had to learn to manage that.”
Stefaniia values the expert teaching and wide-ranging study content at KSU, though she would love to see even more hands-on experiences introduced into the programme. She’s also an active part of the growing student community and praises the work of the KSU Student Representative Body.
“These initiatives are for us, the students. The more we participate, the more vibrant and exciting our university life becomes.”
Her advice for future students?
“Knock on every door. Ask questions. Be bold. Be seen.”
When it comes to motivation, Stefaniia doesn’t hesitate:
“Perfectionism, career ambition – and yes, the scholarship!”
And her message for the future generation of students?
“Never stop at what you’ve already achieved. Growth must be continuous.”
Augustė Šerėnaitė – an Active Member of KSU
First-year student Augustė Šerėnaitė is already a familiar face at KSU. From her first day, she has been actively involved in university life – as a Senate member, event participant, and even as one of the university’s ambassadors.
Though she may seem calm and collected, Augustė is approachable and enthusiastic about new experiences.
“I’m proud of how I handle challenges. Every tough situation strengthens your character.”
She originally planned to study economics, but discovering the Fashion Industry programme at KSU changed her direction completely.
“Fashion has always felt close to me. I love this world and want to find my place in it. I’m glad that fashion is such a broad field – it needs creatives, marketers, business minds. That’s exactly what we’re being trained to become.”
For Augustė, open discussion and exchange of ideas are some of the greatest assets in her studies.
“Discussions bring new perspectives. It’s essential to have your own opinion and not be afraid to share it.”
KSU, she says, provides a safe and supportive space for that kind of growth.
“We can speak up, challenge ideas, and learn to defend our views.”
Augustė also understands the value of networking in fashion.
“The people you meet may turn out to be future collaborators or even business partners.”
Balancing studies, work, and free time is made possible by the flexible structure of the programme. This autumn, she’ll be heading to Spain on the Erasmus+ exchange programme.
“I want to explore the Spanish fashion scene, build international connections, and apply what I learn to future projects.”
Words of Encouragement
Both students agree: confidence, curiosity, and resilience are key to succeeding in both fashion and university life.
“Don’t be afraid to be yourself,” says Augustė. “Dream, make mistakes, and try again. That’s how you grow.”
“University isn’t just about gaining knowledge,” adds Stefaniia. “It’s about discovering who you are.”
