Dear Students

As you embark on your academic journey, remember that university life is more than just a step towards graduation; it’s a key milestone in preparing for your career. The way you present yourself and your behavior in class can have a lasting impact on your future success. With this in mind, we ask you to treat your time at university as if you were already in a professional work environment.

Politeness and Greetings

Politeness is an essential part of creating a positive atmosphere on campus. This includes greeting professors, administrative staff, and fellow students when you meet them. A simple “Hello” or “Good morning” can go a long way in building mutual respect.

Communication Etiquette: Keeping It Professional

All communication with faculty and administrative staff should be conducted through university email, following proper etiquette.

  • Use your university email account, address the recipient formally, and include a clear subject line and signature. Avoid using private messaging apps or social media for official communications.
  • Working hours and response time: Please respect working hours for sending emails. Non-urgent questions will be answered within five working days. You may send emails during weekends, but please understand that responses will follow during working hours on weekdays.

On-Site Consultation Behavior

  • Introduce Yourself: When attending on-site consultations, it is polite and helpful to introduce yourself by stating your name, surname, and study program.
  • Wait patiently and avoid interrupting: If coordinators are busy with other students, please wait patiently and avoid interrupting. Some discussions may involve confidential matters, so it’s important to respect privacy and allow others their full consultation time.

Participation: Commitment to Your Learning

Active participation in lectures is a fundamental part of your academic success. Attending lectures regularly demonstrates your commitment to your studies and your future career. It is crucial to arrive before the lecture starts, as being on time shows respect for your professors and classmates.

  • Attendance: Attending lectures is an essential step toward building your future. Each session is an opportunity to gain knowledge, develop skills, and prepare yourself for the career ahead.
  • Punctuality: Lectures will begin promptly. Students should be seated and ready before the scheduled start time.

Dress Code: Preparing for Your Future Career

  • What’s encouraged: Smart casual attire such as tidy jeans, blouses, shirts, or business-casual dresses. Think of how you’d dress if you were going to an interview or a networking event.
  • What to avoid: Flip-flops, pajamas, overly casual wear (ripped clothing, sportswear, etc.). Let’s keep the campus professional and respectful.

Smoking Policy: A Smoke-Free Environment

To maintain a healthy and respectful environment for everyone, smoking (including cigarettes, vapes, and IQOS) is strictly prohibited inside university buildings. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.

Clean Spaces and Tidiness

Mutual respect goes beyond interactions. It also involves maintaining a clean and tidy environment for everyone. We ask that you leave classrooms and common areas the way you found them and dispose of any trash in the designated bins. A clean space is essential for a respectful and productive learning environment.

Building a Professional Mindset

Your university years are not just about academic knowledge; they’re about building a professional identity. Take every opportunity to act, dress, and behave as you would in the workplace. The habits you form now will set the tone for your career.

Remember, we often host open lectures with industry guests – your potential future employers.

Making a great impression could be the game changer for your career.

We are excited to see you grow, learn, and prepare for a bright professional future!
