Kazimieras Simonavičius University (KSU) presents a new bachelor’s study programme “Art and Creative Technology Management”. The programme invites young people who want to learn how to combine knowledge of art, creative technologies and management in the contemporary environment of cultural and creative industries and contribute to increasing the potential of the cultural and creative industries sector.
Changes in the field of culture require a new generation of management specialists
Today’s cultural and creative industries are changing rapidly: creative, content dissemination and audience reach processes are increasingly relying on digital technologies, data, artificial intelligence tools and new models of interdisciplinary work. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) emphasizes that the digital transformation has fundamentally changed the value chain of cultural and creative industries, and the European Commission singles out digital transformation and increasing the resilience of the sector in its creative and cultural policy priorities for 2025.
In response to these changes and the growing need for specialists who are able to work at the intersection of culture, media, communication, technology and business, KSU has developed a next-generation programme focused on the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s labour market.
“Organizations operating in the modern creative industries and the cultural sector are looking not only for creators, but also for people who are able to combine creativity, technology and management. Digital transformation, the development of artificial intelligence and changing audience habits are changing the entire logic of the sector, so we need to train specialists who are ready to operate in this new reality,” says KSU Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gitana Neverienė.
The program in Lithuania is exceptional
“The uniqueness of this programme is the supplementation of art management studies with competencies in creative technologies, the application of artificial intelligence tools and knowledge of the international art field. Students will acquire not only managerial knowledge, but also learn how to apply artificial intelligence tools and creative technologies in the field of cultural and creative industries, as well as get acquainted with international art markets, professional associations and global management practices. We seek to prepare specialists who would create greater value for the Lithuanian cultural field and contribute to the development of international visibility and exports of artists,” says Dr. Monika Palšauskaitė.
The studies will be based on a practical model: students will be able to participate in project work, case studies, creative workshops, workshops and visits to art and creative technology organizations. Some of the activities will take place in the art, science and technological experience laboratory NØEMA, established by the university.
The structure of the program will allow students to shape part of their studies purposefully according to their interests, choosing topics related to artistic leadership, entrepreneurship, art policy, art education, business communication and negotiation or data management in the creative industries. Such a model will provide an opportunity to develop not only broad interdisciplinary competencies, but also an individual professional profile.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to work in cultural organisations, creative agencies, media and communication companies, technology start-ups, museums, galleries, festival organisation, digital content creation studies, as well as develop their own creative projects or businesses.
