About the programme

Where do we need more and where less Europe? What can Europe contribute to global, sustainable and socially just development? These and other questions are covered in European Union Law master level programme. Students learn methodological skills and apply these to practical situations.

The program encourages students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions taking place within the European economy and European society. The program provides insights into the discipline of European law and also takes into account economic and sociological point of view by focusing on the interdependencies between economic trade, legal frameworks, and the social consequences for European states as well as cross-border societal development within the European Union and its neighbors.

One special feature of the programme is the research project in the third semester. Students are given the opportunity to work in research groups attached to faculty chairs or at an associated research facility and develop their own research proposals in the various colloquia on offer.

The European Union Law programme is designed to produce graduates in specialized subjects at a level sufficient to take up management and legal consultation positions in business, governmental and social organisations, trade unions, industrial enterprises, international organizations and organizations active in Europe and worldwide.

 

FOR PERSON WHO:

  • is seeking justice;
  • has analytical thinking skills and a strong sense of responsibility;
  • is interested in the European Union law;
  • is already able to solve a variety of legal issues; aims to become a top-level legal professional in the European Union law.

WANTS TO BECOME:

  • lawyer in Lithuanian and European Union public institutions, law firms operating in Lithuania or Belgium (especially in Brussels),
  • lawyer in business, science and non-governmental organizations at the national, European, and global level, and specialize in the European Union and international law.

WANTS TO BE ABLE TO:

  • understand the close interactions of different areas of legal regulation in the multilevel legal environment;
  • critically assess the EU development prospects, identify problems, investigate and analyse them;
  • legally assess regulation of the EU internal policy frameworks and apply scientific research methods to their evaluation;
  • solve a variety of legal problems, initiate and implement ideas, projects;
  • integrate multilevel legal regulation knowledge and make complex decisions.

Fun facts About Lithuania!

  • Basketball is the most popular sport and said to be the second religion of Lithuanians.  Several Lithuanian basketball players have gone up to the NBA’s Hall of Fame. The Lithuanian players who are currently in the NBA include: Jonas Valanciunas, Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Domas Sabonis. Ignas Brazdeikis.
  • Lithuanians Are Super aeronautical and love being in the air. Vilnius is the only capital in the world that you can fly a hot air balloon over.
  • Two famous Pilots Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas attempted a cross Atlantic flight from NYC to Kaunas, Lithuania.
  • Aerobatic flying is another specialty; Jurgis Kairys, the world championship even has a maneuver named after him: the Kairys Wheel.
  • Lithuania is a geographical centre of Europe. Jean-George Affholder, a scientist from the French National Geographic Institute determined that the geographic centre of Europe is located at 54°54′N 25°19′E, near a Lithuanian village named Purnuškės.
  • Lithuania has one of the fastest Internet connections in the World. Lithuania is the first country in Europe which has introduced the Local Breakout (LBO) technology, offering cheap mobile internet for travellers and allowing them to avoid big data roaming charges.
  • Lithuanian Language is one of the most ancient language of all time. The longest Lithuanian word is: “nebeprisikiškiakopūsteliaujantiesiems” which has 37 letters.
  • Lithuania is famous for being the only country in the World with its own official scent, called “The Scent of Lithuania”.
  • The Easter eggs are not brought here by some cute and fluffy bunnies, it is the Easter Granny (“Velykų Bobute”) who does that job in Lithuania.
